Frequently Asked Questions

  • It's the process of converting your physical photographs into digital files you can store, share, and back up. Think of it as giving your memories a second life, one that won't fade, mold, or get lost in a move.

  • If you can hold it, we can scan it. Whether your photos are in perfect condition or a little worse for wear, we handle all of them. Even damaged or faded photos are worth digitizing.

  • You can absolutely preserve your memories yourself! Digitizing old photos, tapes, and films can be time-consuming and technical: backing everything up, organizing files, restoring damaged media, and learning unfamiliar equipment and software all add up, especially for large projects. Let me take that burden off your hands. With years of experience in metadata management, photo and video editing, and project coordination, I create a carefully crafted, professional package that restores, organizes, and preserves your media with attention and care so your memories are safe, beautiful, and easy to enjoy.

  • We’re not a big corporation churning through thousands of items. I personally get to know each client, learn the stories behind their photos and films, and treat every piece with care. Each photo and tape is thoughtfully edited and restored - not just digitized, so the memories look as close to their original selves as possible and can be loved and shared for generations.

  • All restoration work is done in-house and right here in the U.S. and are never outsourced. Whether you’re in Bloomington-Normal or a nearby community, your tapes, films, and photos are handled locally by me from drop-off to delivery. If you ship your items, I will ensure everything is tracked and received with care. Your media stays with a single, trusted professional throughout the entire process, securely managed and carefully restored end-to-end.

  • Not at all. Send them however they are. We know most photos live in shoeboxes and that's completely fine with us.

  • We scan each one carefully at high resolution, convert them into digital files, and then return your originals to you untouched. Your memories never leave our hands carelessly.

  • With a lot of care. We treat every photo like it's irreplaceable, because it is. If a photo is particularly fragile, we take extra time to make sure it's handled safely.

  • We scan at 600 dots per inch or higher, which captures fine detail and gives you a high quality digital copy that holds up even when printed large.

  • You'll receive JPEG or TIFF files, both of which open on any phone, computer, or tablet without any special software.

  • It depends on the size of your order, but we'll give you a clear timeline before we get started. We never rush the process because your photos deserve the time and attention.

  • I started this business after losing all of my own photos to mold damage. I know firsthand what it feels like to lose something you can never get back. Your photos are treated with the same care I wish mine had been.

  • We take every precaution to make sure that never happens. Your originals are stored safely throughout the entire process and returned to you as soon as we're done.

  • We keep your files long enough to make sure the transfer is complete and you're happy with everything. We can also offer a longer storage time for an additional cost. After that, we don't hold onto them indefinitely. Your privacy matters to us.

  • Never. Your photos are yours. We don't use them for marketing, social media, or anything else without your explicit permission.

  • We send your files through a secure digital download link so you can access them right away. If you'd prefer them on a USB drive or disc, just let us know.

  • Yes, always. Your originals are returned to you after scanning. We never keep them.

  • Pricing depends on the number of photos and the type of media. We keep things straightforward with no surprise fees. Reach out for a quote and we'll give you a clear number upfront.

  • We charge per photo so you only pay for exactly what you send in. No flat box rates that end up costing you more than they should.

  • No. What we quote you is what you pay. We believe in honest, transparent pricing because we know you're trusting us with something valuable.
